Crazy Faith - In Style with Aley Arion
“You’re not crazy.”What an amazing realization to come to. I spent Easter with my family in Connecticut this past weekend and as soon as I took a seat at their dining table, I knew that’s exactly where I needed to be. The heavy discussions, conspiracy theories, and faith talks were hour(s) long confirmations that I am not alone in this world nor are my thoughts alien.Spending time with family is vital. The act of fellowship among people who look like you is recharging; especially when dealing with the drain and pull of forced adulthood in New York City.
You know that’s humorous? When I got off the Metro North train and walked out to meet my aunt and cousin in the quaint atmosphere of Milford, Connecticut, I thought to myself, what in the heck am I doing in the city?!
It almost seems like self-inflicted abuse to go through the hustle and bustle of New York. It’s not all lollipops and peanut butter, chocolate eggs here; far from it actually. It almost makes you wonder why someone would voluntarily choose to deal with the constant beating and pruning that NYC inflicts.
I often wonder why I have...And in that same breath, I question whether I’m cut out to "make it" here. But in those moments of doubt, I am reminded of one faithful day in April of 2015, just a month from graduating from college, sitting on my bed with no job offers or internship prospects, when God placed a promise in me that would land me in NYC almost a year and a half later.
At the time, I didn’t know how I would get here.
Where I would live... or work.
But I knew God made a promise and that He would fulfill all my needs. It's funny how life comes full circle since I’m not in a similar position that requires another level of faith in God. I rest in knowing that God would not send me here to "die." Yes, I may go without, feel broke AF, and not know how I'll manage to buy groceries in between paychecks, but God is my provider and he continues to prove this over and over and over again. If you're going through a rough patch that's bending and testing your faith, embrace this season, don't run. You need to get something out of this so hold on; God's got you.
To have faith like this, maybe you do have to be a little crazy.
